Whether or not you like the story or characters (we love both, for the record), this film is a visual feast that completely immerses you in a world unlike any other. Incredible.

This is not your usual horror flick! It's visually beautiful, features some very good dark comedy, excellent special effects, and an interesting off-beat story.
Plot: Aaron Kwok (THE STORM RIDERS) gives a bravura performance in this unflinching suspense thriller directed by Oxide Pang of the Pang Brothers fame (THE EYE). Kwok plays Tam, a dingy private detective obsessed with a mysterious case in Thailand.
Plot: Set in 1998 Macau, two Hong Kong hit men arrive to take out a renegade gangmember trying to turn over a new leaf with his wife and newborn baby. But two of their former associates also show up, intent on thwarting them at every cost.

Though we're traditionally Tarantino fans and feel lukewarm about Rodriguez, "Planet Terror" was overall a lot more fun than "Death Proof", taking excess to new heights (or depths, as the case may be).

It's wonderful to see quality returning to Hong Kong films. SPL offers a clear example of genuine effort and talent in the writing, acting, and action. It's definitely a crime-drama first, and a martial arts film last, but the quality is undeniable.
Plot: Set during "The Genpei Wars" at the end of the 1100s, the Minamoto and Taira gangs face off in a town named Yuda, while a deadly gunman (Ito Hideaki) comes to the aid of the townsfolk.

Phenomenal. This film totally blew us away. It's beautiful, terrifying, thought-provoking, and unique. Do not miss this one!
Good points for visual style and acting, but the stories are somewhat lethargic and uninvolving.
