Plot: Lo Chen takes a hard right turn into hard-boiled mystery. Ivy Ling Po plays the dedicated wife of a man being blackmailed for an illicit love affair, who uncovers a pit of deceit, double-crosses, extortion and murder after murder.
Plot: A moving tale about a childless woman who cares for an emotionally battered girl. The drama made a star of the lovely Li Hsiang-Chun and demonstrates the director's mastery of emotional nuance in a genre quite different from his other 1959 masterpieces.
Plot: This soulful, powerful, intelligent, and beautifully-made martial arts epic about a master swordsman protecting a treasure chest on a dangerous journey stands beside "The Deadly Breaking Sword" and "The Kung Fu Instructor" as one of the director's best.

ROTCB is perhaps not up to par with other Shaw Brothers productions (seemingly anything with "Shaolin" in the title is excellent) but has plenty to offer nonetheless. In particular, it is fun to watch the invincible Chinese kung-fu-ster take on many different martial arts styles with aplomb.
