| Overview: | 1910, after his ninth failed attempt to stage a revolution in China, Dr. Sun Yat Sen, alias Sun Wen (Winston Chao), is in political exile with a price on his head. Turned away from Japan, he sails to Penang, Malaysia, a prosperous tropical island in the Nanyang. Here he continues to raise funds for the Chinese Revolution.
In Penang, Dr. Sun stays at the luxurious home of prominent Penang businessman Xu Bo Heng (Wang Jian Cheng). Xu's daughter, Xu Dang Rong (Angelica Lee, "The Eye") is a beautiful, young, and enthusiastic Nyonyo lady. Her life changes when she meets Dr. Sun a the grand birthday celebration in honor of her mother, Mrs. Xu (Vickey Liu).
Xu Dan Rong's father forces her to marry the son of his British business friend, although she really loves Lou Zhao Ling (Zhao Zheng). Unknown to her, Lou, who is a Qing secret agent, receives an order to kill Dr. Sun. Meanwhile, Dr. Sun's second wife, Chen Cui Fen (Wu Yue), who has just arrived to join him, tries to thwart the assassin...
