Plot:	Witness the stories of four women detained in asylums between the 1940s and 60s. The asylums existed to correct the supposed sexual deviance of young women, but they were run by corrupt and sadistic nuns...
Overview:	"Sex In A Cold Climate" follows the stories of four women detained in Magdalene asylums between the 1940s and 1960s. The purpose of the asylums was to correct the supposed sexual deviance of young women. But they were run by corrupt and sadistic nuns. All the women featured in the documentary eventually escaped, but the emotional and physical strain led to damaged lives. The release of this remarkable documentary caused immediate uproar in Ireland and has also been debated in the Irish Parliament and used as evidence in recent investigations into institutional abuse.
