It's wonderful to see quality returning to Hong Kong films. SPL offers a clear example of genuine effort and talent in the writing, acting, and action. It's definitely a crime-drama first, and a martial arts film last, but the quality is undeniable.
Pretty much exactly what you'd expect from Rob Zombie: a disgusting, foul-mouthed, trailer trash bonanza, in which not only are the film's victims raped, but also the audience and any remaining value of the Michael Myers character.
An irresistible, dreamlike portrait of a metropolis asleep. Poor characters, but great atmosphere.
