One of the delightful rare instances where a remake surpasses the original, Gore Verbinski's "The Ring" has the look, the music, and the performances to make it work on every level.
To be honest, we liked the Korean remake, "Ring Virus", more than this original Japanese version. However, it's still creepy and spooky and everything that a horror movie should be.
Honestly, this film wouldn't stand that well on its own, but as a direct sequel to the first film it does a good job. Eerie atmosphere, great special effects, and creepy music complement the solid acting all around.
