Though we're traditionally Tarantino fans and feel lukewarm about Rodriguez, "Planet Terror" was overall a lot more fun than "Death Proof", taking excess to new heights (or depths, as the case may be).
Pretty boring low-budg turkey from hit-or-miss cult icon John Carpenter. Part of Carpenter's "Apocalypse Trilogy", which also includes "The Thing" and the effective "In The Mouth Of Madness".
Although it borrows liberally from several other films, this dizzying blend of sci-fi, action, gangster crime, martial arts, and dramedy is very fun. If you liked "The Matrix" AND "Independence Day" AND "Young And Dangerous", then this is for you.
