I should probably have taken heed from the title. But I didn't, and thus, expected another great Milkyway action drama, with all the fixin's. That was not what I got. And even my love for Lau Ching-Wan and Simon Yam, could not alleviate me of the feelings of sheer emptiness and indifference I was left with upon viewing this movie. It's probably not a bad movie. I just didn't like it.

One of the best cop movies I have ever seen. Simon yam and Lau Ching-Wan are such great talented actors. Great supporting cast. Wonderful movie and highly recommended for any Asian movie fan.

Lau Ching Wan's performance is great as usual. Simon Yam also provides another wonderful relaxed performance. If not for the acting, I would consider this film average for this genre during this period. The one other thing that does make this film a little different is its pace. The two major gun battles have a leisurely pace that adds greatly to their intensity. But what the reviews have missed is that 'Expect the Unexpected' is a remake of the American TV movie "In the Line of Duty: The F.B.I. Murders". In the 'F.B.I. Murders' the final gun battle was even dragged out more( I would guess twice as long as in 'Unexpected') and is nerve-racking in its intensity.

And to make the final gun battles in both films even more harrowing, the viewer should realize that they're based on real events... I remember watching the news the day the original events took place in Florida.
