The Cat [Chinese Version]: Technical Notes

WA (a mainland china label) presents the movie in it's original 1.85:1 aspect ratio and it's a decent transfer they've provided. Print damage is quite extensive during the first 10 minutes or so but clears up as we movie along. Colours come off as quite dull and detail isn't very good. It's on par with most releases from this era though. Note that this is currently the only way to own the movie on dvd.

Only a mandarin Dolby Digital 5.1 dub is on the disc and it's a really bad one. The sound doesn't actually seem to leave the center channel which would be considered a good thing if it wasn't for the echo present on the track. I could ignore it when the movie featured action but whenever anyone talked the echo pretty much ruined the already bad dub. In the end I got through the movie and I'm not planning to get rid off it because of the bad sound.

The english subtitles are removeable and has it's fair share of spelling and grammatical errors, no problem following the dialogue though. A chinese subtitle track is also included and the chinese menu doesn't offer anything in terms of extras.
