Total nullity! Flying people, magic weapons. This is pure crap (sorry Yuen Biao fans!). Poor performance by Yuen Biao. Plenty of fights but simply ridiculous to me. Not to be confused with the movie of the same title featuring the Venoms and directed by Chang Cheh, which is a pure gem. THAT's the one to get! Not this atrocity. Why did I even gave this movie ½ a star??

Not exactly a favorite of mine, but it still has its moments. The story can be a little slow in pace and a little confusing. The absence of Sun Chien and especially Lo Mang also drags it down a bit.

The final fight is pretty cool, though. Kuo Chui really shows his stuff.

My biggest grievance is Candy Wen (not a big fan): she really gets under my skin in a bad way.

Not a must-have in my opinion, but Venom fans might want to check it out.

Pretty good Chang Cheh film, heavily plotted, but makes up for it with some amazing action and bloodshead!

Well, it's got Sharla, action, Sharla, flying swordsmen, Sharla, and heaps of fun! Has a lot of the same zaniness you expect from her that keeps you laughing and entertained. A very good yarn with multi-layered characters, beautiful women and a Captain Hook-ette! Recommended. One and a half thumbs up, mates.

I know there's a lot of reviews for this, but I have to add my bit in :) This film is like a too-faithful version of a Shakespeare play, complete with archaic dialogue and words. To compound the problem the actors all seem to have rote-learnt the script, and they blurt out their lines like a machine gun-"blahblahrahblahrahblah!" So here I was sitting there wondering what the HELL they were saying. Thank GOD for subtitles-while they weren't very clear (not on my version, anyways) at least I knew what they were saying. NOT that knowing what they were talking about helped decipher the plot at all. Too confusing, too many ill-formed, sometimes seeminly half-baked characters make this film hard to watch. I thought this film was trying too hard to be like Swordsman, and it failed miserably. Still, the fight scenes are amazing.

Sword Stained With Royal Blood is a movie with a very weird story. The action scenes are numerous but they are far too short to satisfy a swordplay movie fan. And Yuen Biao doesn't even let us the chance to see his martial artist capacities. But the end fight is well orchestrated with the wires as you witness an aerial fight between two men, for real, without seeing the wires. This movie remains good to rent but no to buy, buy Duel To The Death or Swordsman II for a good swordplay movie instead. 7/10

An absconding princess, travelling as Ah Kau, fools around with her master Wah Su Kuei, and is arrested by righteous constable Yuen Shing Chi who, during battle, encounters and befriends the Golden Snake Man, whose name is Ha Suet Yee (played by Danny Lee). Snake's wife Siu Yi (actress unknown) has forsaken him for the powerful Wan, a demonic martial arts leader. And there's another princess, Jade Ho, who wants to drink the constable's blood after he survives a snake bite, which will give her great powers. Ah Kau is a loud-mouthed stirrer, and goads many of the sword-happy characters into fighting, as the constable takes her to trial. And everyone seems to be after the Golden Snake Sword, which has incredible powers.
