| I've stated on record that I am a big Sharla Cheung Man fan and for those of you who share my feelings, this little tale of gal bonding and revenge may be of interest. Sharla began her acting career in 1986 and this number is her 3rd movie--the only one for her in 1988. Here you can see her young, innocent and playing a serious role of which may be of surprise to some folks more familiar with her wacky-swordswoman of later. Here she is a fish out of water as she's forced by family troubles to join a `nightclub' and earn extra monies. She's quite the soft babe--so it's a chance to catch her versatility. She's paired up with veteran actress, Cherie Chung playing a tough, no nonsense mentor who's brutality is clearly demonstrated thru out the story. This movie is a slice of the seeder side of HK life and the last 15 minutes is loaded with enough violence to make up for the slower aspects of the film. (As a bonus, Sharla wears several tight dresses--yup, she's got a figure!) A full thumbs up! |
