This is a fairly enjoyable Wong Jing film. It's not exactly one of his best, but it's not one of his worst either.

His knowledge of English comes at the forefront, which helps to maintain interest and coherency when reading the subtitles. In fact, the Mandarin subtitles contain more accurate translations of English words than the official English subtitles [on the Hong Kong DVD by Mei Ah].

Additionally, Jing throws interesting references to other films and aspects of Western culture in this film. Look out for a subtle nod to the film "Commando".

Andy Lau and Alex Man have very good chemistry together here as they did in "Rich And Famous". Alex really steals the show here in what's one of his best comedic performances.

This film has enough distinguished moments to label it as a classic. The opening shot is a nice example of trick photography and the film has little twists like that throughout.

It would have been commendable for Jing to exploit Happy Chiu's head injury more and thus create more tension but alas the film, in return for not exploring this plot device, contains a steady pace as it develops the other characters and plot points. Although, I suppose the knowledge we have of Chiu's condition provides a subconscious element of suspense when the action arrives from time to time.

Also, It was amusing seeing Eddie Mayer wear an Iron Maiden shirt even if he doesn't get to strut his stuff much like he did in Pedicab Driver.

In conclusion, this film is worth watching and it's definitely more enjoyable than the average Hong Kong film which gets released these days.

Another lackluster Wong Jing action comedy, and I use the word comedy loosely... with very little going for it! If you divide all of Wong Jing's films in to three piles, being CRAP, WATCHABLE, and dare I say GOOD. Then this one belongs in the CRAP pile... Don't bother.

NIt's not that bad. I'd say at the very least, the film is 6/10. Personally, I'd give it 7/10.JK52061
