| The movie that inspired Reservoir Dogs, is a million times better then Reservoir Dogs.
Chow Yun-Fat plays an undercover cop, trying to get the good on some jewel thieves. He goes so deep undercover that he can no longer get out and is now seen as a member of the jewel thief team by his own police members.
Now the only way out for Chow is to take down the jewel thieves from the inside or get taken out by his police force.
City on Fire is now my second favorite Chow Yun-Fat movie, this can act! Plus it doesn't hurt that he looks good with a gun in his hands.
Chow get to be a character that, to me any ways, is an everyday person. He has a life outside of work that he would rather live then being a cop. He goes through a range of emotions, from serious to funny, to happy to scared s**tless.
One of the great scenes in this is the end. The police have all the thieves surround, and the thieves finally learn of Chows secret identity. Mayhem ensues!!
As I stated above, CoF inspired Quentin Tarantino to write Reservoir Dogs. Basically I saw CoF as a sort of prequel to Reservoir Dogs, up til the last 20 minutes which is a direct rip-off.
But given the choice to watch either one, I'd choose CoF. Just an overall better movie. |
