| Overview: | Set in Okinawa, Japan, Okinawa Rendezvous tells of a love story between a cop on vacation, an honorable thief and a woman running away from her lover, a womanising triad boss.
Faye Wong is Jenny, the lover of a triad boss, Sato (Francis Ng), who is unhappy with her uncertain future. Sato brings home a large bag of money one day to pay, Tang (Tony Leung), who has got a diary with explicit details of Sato's triad activities. Jenny takes the money and decides to leave Sato.
Tang is in strong need of cash and is strapped without the money from Sato. He decides to rob a bank in Okinawa to solve his financial problems. He meets Lo (Leslie Cheung) and his girlfriend (Gigi Lai), who are having a holiday at Okinawa. Recognising Tang to be an internationally-wanted criminal, Lo decides to catch Tang in action to advance his career. He thus pretends to be a thief and tries to befriend Tang for a chance to take part in the robbery with him.
Not surprisingly, they decide to blast their house in from the house next to the bank and when they reach there, they realise that the woman living in the house is none other than Sato's lover, Jenny. Coming into an uncomfortable compromise, the trio live together and in the process of planning for the robbery, both men fall hopelessly in love with Jenny.
In a musical chairs game of love, lust and emotion, the characters find themselves and their relationships being reshuffled and reorganised as:
(a) Lo breaks up with his long-time girlfriend to be with Jenny;
(b) Tang, who has never really loved any woman, suddenly finds himself in a dangerous situation of playing love games with Jenny;
(c) Sato, who was looking for Jenny, ends up meeting Lo's dumped girlfriend
