| If anyone else who has seen this super snooze of a film can explain what on Earth is going on, then you are a better person than me, or you just simply managed to pay attention by staying awake. This is one of the most boring films I have ever had the misfortune of sitting through. Expecting some of the thrills I got from watching "Mr. Vampire", "Close Encounters Of The Spooky Kind", and "A Chinese Ghost Story"--three classics of the zombie/vampire/Chinese ghost genre--I got none. The story, such as it was, made very little sense. It looked as if it was all made up as they went along. I cannot believe this was by Tony Leung. The story is poor, the script is poor, the martial arts, if they can be called martial arts that is, were poor, the 'scary' parts were poor, the acting was poor, the 'comedy' was poor, the whole film was--you've guessed it--poor. I've tried my best to think of something, anything good to say about this film, but there is not one redeeming feature of the whole film that could even make me suggest it as something to kill a spare 90 minutes you have because it would be a waste of those 90 minutes. Watching paint dry would be less boring than this. I bought the DVD for only a few pounds, yet I still feel bad even giving it away for nothing to my local charity shop, it's that bad. |
