An eccentric piano tuner named Antonio Go moves into his ancestral home, only to find it haunted by the ghost of his dead uncle. His uncle was a gifted composer who killed himself over an unrequited love, and in order to help young Go win the object of his affections and avoid his uncle's melancholy fate, the uncle gives his nephew songs he has composed. Unfortunately, the nephew, unsure of himself, sells his uncle's songs to an arrogant and talentless pop singer who claims them as his own. To add insult to injury, the pop singer has designs on popular radio journalist Miss So (Maggie Cheung), apparently the hardest working woman in Hong Kong, who is the same woman Go desires. When Go's uncle suddenly disappears, Go realizes he must depend on his own resources to win the affections of Miss So.
