Plot:	Viggo Mortensen plays the Spanish soldier-turned-mercenary Captain Alatriste, a heroic figure from the country's 17th century imperial wars. Based on a hugely popular series of novels by Arturo Pérez-Reverte.
Overview:	The most expensive Spanish language film made to date (2009) with a budget of over US$30 million. Based on a series of hugely popular Spanish novels, the film follows Alatriste (Viggo Mortensen, "A History Of Violence", "Lord Of The Rings", "Eastern Promises"), a Spanish soldier-turned-mercenary as he heads back to Spain to fulfill the wishes of a dead friend, only to find his once powerful country crumbling due to political corruption and social unrest.
