| Overview: | Three life-long friends, Kash (Archie Howard II - Dahmer). Shane (Juwan Chung) and Bones (Ben Baller), find happiness and fulfillment in the marijuana trade. The money is good and the dangers are minimal. They're living the American dream. Then one day their drivers get busted during a run to Ohio and everything goes horribly wrong.
With the Mexican Mafia breathing down their necks, they try to recoup their losses and pay off their debts by dealing cocaine. Sound simple? Hardly. Coke has its own set of rules, especially where life expectancy is concerned. It gets so that the three can't even trust their most loyal employees, and before long Kash finds himself in jail, while Shane and Bones are running from their own hired guns. Survival becomes the order of the day, and, as Shane quickly learns, even a life-long friend is expendable if it means living a little longer.
Filmmaker Juwan Chung wrote, directed, and starred in this insider's look at the odd assortment of characters and sociopaths that populate the drug trade. Filmed on the streets of L.A. with a cast that reflects the city's racial and cultural diversity, "Cake" is a gritty masterpiece that puts a human face on one of the world's most reviled (and revered) industries.
