| A "must see" Taiwanese romance comedic music-drama film which premiered in June 2008 to critical claim. Won three awards in the 2008 Taipei Film Festival. and became the 2nd top grossing film in the county's cinematic history.
Set in 1940 near the end of the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, an unnamed teacher (Kouske Atar), living in the town of Hengchun, falls in love. With the surrender of Japan, he is forced to return home as the Chinese now resume the occupation of Taiwan. In his hasty departure, he pens seven letters to his love.
Our story resumes 60 years later. A assortment of characters fill the screen. Aga (Van Fan), a struggling young Hengchun-native rock singer, his stepfather Hong Guorong (Ma Rulong), the Town Council Representative, and Tomoko (Chie Tamaka),an over-the-hill Mandarin speaking Japanese fashion model.
Aga assumes the position of postman substituting for the injured Old Man (Johnny C.J. Ling) who had been incapacitated in a motorcycle accident. In the course Aga's temporary duties as postman, he comes across the letters which the deceased teacher had tried to mail, but had been returned.
There are a lot of strong sub-plots in the movie; Aga is employed by his stepfather to lead the opening band for a beach concert, his love interest,Tomoko, is in charge of managing this hastily assembled motley crew, and the unnamed teacher's granddaughter helps Aga find the rightful owner of the lost letters.
Eventually success comes to all that have the patience and longevity to wait!
