 | | | | Minoru Kawasaki does it again. A wonderful mix of old school kaiju fun, complete with guys in monster suits destroying scale buildings, forced perspective miniatures, and crazy secret technology with political satire about the G8 nations. The movie was really sold to me when Kim Yong-Il makes his surprise appearance and I about lost it. I love kaiju movies, and this one really got it right with all the glorious old school techniques. And the parody of the world leaders was a hoot. A bit like "The World Sinks Except Japan", but with giant monsters and a less downbeat ending. It is the best kaiju parody film since "Cloverfield"--oh yeah, "Cloverfield" was supposed to be serious. Er, okay, "Monster X Strikes Back: Attack The G8 Summit!" is the greatest giant monster parody film of all time then. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
