ABOUT THE STAR:
Shiro Shimomoto is one of the most individual actors of the Pink Eiga world. He was born in Osaka, Japan, on August 14th, 1948. He began his career as an actor with legendary filmmaker, Banmei Takahashi’s Pink Eiga in the early 1970's. He has primarily worked with Bamei Takahashi, but has also worked with other great filmmakers, including, Koji Wakamatsu, Akira Fumakachi, Kazuyuki Izutsu, and Shuji Kataoaka, among others. He has acted in over 250 Pink Eiga films. Recently, he began acting in mainstream films and TV shows. In 1992, he wrote, directed, and starred in a Pink Eiga film.

In “S&M Hunter,” Shimomoto plays the anti-hero title character, which has become the defining role of his career. The majority of his appearances in Pink Eiga films took place in the 70’s and 80’s, but in 2006, he received the Best Actor Award at the Pink Eiga Film Festival for his performance in “Uncle’s Paradise” (directed by Shinji Imaoka). He plays a humorous character, Uncle Takashi. Since receiving this award he is known not only by older Pink Eiga audiences but by new audiences as well. A large number of his fans go to theaters just to watch his performance.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Shuji Kataoka is a veteran director and writer of Pink Eiga and an expert of action films. He was born November 23rd, 1950 in Hokkaido, Japan. He dropped out of Kanto Gakuin University to work at Mukai Productions (the father of Pink Eiga, Hiroshi Mukai’s production company). He studied directing under Hiroshi Mukai and Yojiro Takita (Onmyoji: The Yin Yang Master, 2001), and directed his first Pink Eiga film, in 1983. Since 1993, he has been directing mainstream films and V cinema (straight to video and DVD releases). Kataoka has become one of the most popular V cinema directors in Japan.

Whether it’s Pink Eiga or V cinema, Kataoka prefers to make action films. His representative work, the “S&M Hunter” series, consists of stories about a crazy anti-hero, who combats fighting girls. This series’ popularity continues and has enjoyed a number of revival screenings.

Furthermore, Kataoka has made many yakuza series and great mahjong gambler series for V cinema. He frequently cast Japanese S&M star, Hiromi Saotome and veteran Pink Eiga actor, Shiro Shimomoto.
