| Man, I love Korean movies. This one is one of my faves. Like another reviewer stated, this movie has a definite Guy Ritchie feel to it (minus the affiliations to an attention-starved whore). "No Blood, No Tears" is pure entertainment with bold and distinct atmosphere. Noir, drama, comedy and martial arts at their finest. Jung Dohong helms the action direction, as he did in "City of Violence", with polished and refined expertise. The fights are just totally sick. Interesting fact: did you know that when expert level Tae Kwon Do is fused with sharp western boxing the fights they produce resemble the style of Hong Kong screen fighting that was popular in a bunch of those cop actioners from the 80's and early 90's? No shit. The fights look like they were lifted from a contemporary kung fu flick yet they maintain their own individual methodology. I really can't build this movie up enough. Between the outstanding performances, excellent direction, the classy cinematography, fantastic writing, and the sweet fight scenes lies a film that is absolutely worth adding to your collection. Highly recommended. |

 | | | | If you like Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino, then you're in for a treat with this Jo Pok classic. The fight scenes are tremendous: the fight in the cage is breathetaking, the fight in the alley is phenomenal--oh yeah, and the story is good, too, and it's damn funny. Enjoy JO POK!!!! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | The fights are fantastic, and the film has such style and wit. Think I'll watch it again now! | ryan11 |
