Having recently watched the much-vaunted 'Mongol', and been disappointed by it, I approached this with some trepidation. However, I am happy to say that this proved to be a much more enjoyable and credible film. I understand 'Mongol' is only the first part of a trilogy based on the life of Genghis Khan, however I don't think I want to sit through the next two in the trilogy if they are going to be as tedious as "Mongol". On the other hand, "Genghis Khan: To The Ends Of The Earth And Sea" succeeds in every area, where "Mongol" falls down. It is an exciting film, well acted, well scripted, and with exceptional cinematography. The fight scenes are very well choreographed, and when the film finishes, you are left with the feeling of having been entertained, and so, satisfied. Highly recommended. |
