Director Sabu started out as an actor appearing in Takashi Miike’s notoriously violent cult classic "Ichi the Killer", Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s thriller "Pulse" (later remade in the U.S) and the sci-fi action film "Zeiram 2".

Star Shin’ichi Tsutsumi appeared in the original version of "One Missed Call".

Sabu has become a very public filmmaker and has won numerous awards at film festivals including the Berlin International Film Festival and the Fantasia Film Festival. He has developed quite a cult following in Japan.
