"Supercop" is the third entry in the "Police Story" franchise. Not as grim and gritty as the first two, however the death defying stunts are turned up several notches!

Jackie goes under cover in Mainland China in order to take down a major drug lord. Help comes in the form of Michelle Yeoh as a no nonsense Mainland China police officer. What follows is a combination of action and comedy that culminates in a thrilling grand finale.

In my opinion, Michelle Yeoh steals the movie! She is tough, beautiful, and also does her own stunts. The Dragon Dynasty version also offers some great extras including interviews with Michelle and Jackie. Recommended for action lovers.

YMichelle Yeoh was nearly enough to raise this to the level of the first two films, but the move into mainland China robs it of much of its original charm.Jeffrey Frawley
Ythank you for not being over-zealous over this film. though it's a great action piece,it's still inferior when measure against the first two.slave 2 (the ressurection)

"Supercop" is the third in the "Police Story" series. I was looking forward to watching this film and it has a great mix of Jackie Chan's amazing martial arts and slapstick humor.

This "Police Story" film is good but not that great. I wasn't really too thrilled with the story, concept, or characterization, because that is what I mainly look for in film. Of course action is my fail-safe or my secondary when desperately trying to find decency in a film, and of course this film does deliver in action. Basically, that is all I liked about this film, and Maggie Cheung's butt. (Snicker.)

It's not horrible at all, and I can comprehend why you folks loved this one, but sorry I'm contrary to your gratifications involving this film. The first two are still the best.

YI liked it a bit more than you did, but the change of the character from an everman to a superagent and the move away from the streets of Hong Kong do pose some problems.Jeffrey Frawley
NNot the best PS but still quite good! Loved Michelle doing her stunts including the bike onto the train!!!!Jackie is great and Michelle is excellent!Cinema!
YI'm with you on this one. I can't understand why so many people are raving about this. I found it to be average at best.William Giordanella

This is one of the best Jackie Chan movies! An absolute must-see. Michelle Yeoh is so beautiful. Best stunts, best action scenes ever made.

Another enjoyable classic from the creative mind of Jackie Chan, this time handing the directing reins over to Stanley Tong, and sharing the screen with action queen Michelle Yeoh in a fast-paced adventure, taking them all over Asia.

While I fully recognize the huge entertainment value of this movie, I can't help but miss the Hong Kong street feel and hard-edged fights of the two previous films in the series. At this time Jackie was sort of moving away from long, intricate fight scenes, and more in the direction of big stunts and big action--although he did pay one last tribute to the art of all-out ass kicking with the brilliant "Drunken Master 2". But looking at his output in the 90's, it is clear that he had progressed beyond the more martial arts oriented movies in what was, most likely, a calculated attempt to satisfy his many different markets outside of Asia.

Here, he takes the Ka Kui character out of his Hong Kong hometurf, in pursuit of a more epic and international feel. And in part 4 (if you count "First Strike" as part of the series) he strays even further around the world, turning the determined HK cop into a globetrotting, James Bondian figure far from the original nature of the character, thus losing its vulnerable but relentless qualities in the process. And I think that is a shame.

With that said, it is still very much a quintessential Jackie Chan movie. He is as funny and charming as ever. The stunts are insane, the action is explosive. And what actual fight choreo there is, is of the usual JC standard. He also, graciously, takes a step back in several scenes and lets Michelle come to the fore and shine. She looks great and adds a breath of fresh air to the proceedings. So much so that her character was given its own spin-off movie, "Project S", the following year.

Outside of the aforementioned gripes, I have one more complaint. Why on earth would you cast the magnificent Yuen Wah as one of the main villains and NOT have him and Jackie go at it in the final reel? That's a crime. I would gladly take a serious showdown with those two guys over all that train and helicopter business. But that was not to be. And despite my humble stipulations, I love this movie and consider it a definite JC must-have, and one of his best movies of the 90's.

YI agree with every one of your criticisms - particularly about the move away from the streets of Hong Kong and the lack of a fight between Jackie Chan and Yuen Wah. When he made this film, Chan could still do the old action, but chose not to.Jeffrey Frawley

An okay Jackie Chan flick with the great Michelle Yeoh in the co-starring role. Great stunts galore, but the movie seems slow in the second reel--but then the final reel is all action. Another entertaining movie in Jackie's canon.

With "Drunken Master 2" as his best period piece, I think that "Supercop" is Jackie's best modern film.

Just about the best Jackie Chan movie ever. When I saw it in SF Chinatown I couldn't believe it. Watch the Chinese version on DVD -- especially the NG scenes.

NNot even close to Jackies best. I wouldn't even rate this in his top 8 or 9.William Giordanella

[Police Story 1-3] represent some of the more serious works by Jackie Chan, and all are filled not only with exciting fights but plenty of incredible stunts, such as when he jumps onto a moving bus in Police Story, or the fight on top of a train in Police Story 3.

I tend to prefer Jackie's older work such as Drunken Master, where he uses more traditional martial arts with fancy names for every move. None the less, I still enjoyed the virtually non-stop action.

I love this movie!!!!! One of my favorite Jackie Chan films! Michelle Yeoh does a lot more than Jackie does, and she does a lot of stunts! The finale is spectacular and Jackie sings at the end (HK version, not English version), and he is a wonderful singer!

I recommend this film to anybody who is a fan of Jackie! Even if you're not, watch this film!!!!!

An HK cop (Jacky Chan) and a Mainland cop (Michelle Yeoh) infiltrate a drug gang by helping to "spring" one of its leaders (Yuen Wah) from a prison camp in Mainland China.

Most ambitious entry in the series so far, features Michelle Yeoh's return to the movie business playing a cop from mainland China. Among the many highlights is the final chase, when a helicopter (which Jackie is hanging onto) crashes onto a speeding train, while Michelle makes an amazing motor-cycle jump onto the same train... wow!

NSorry, but Police Story 1 is far better than this entry. Nothing in this film will top the scenes in the the mall from Police Story 1.William Giordanella
