This movie marked Donnie Yen's directorial debut. It was obviously shot on a shoestring budget and showed his unpolished editing techniques at the time. However, the effort Yen put into the character development, plot, and action should earn him much praise as a beginning director. Because of this film he has gained recognition outside of HK and has worked on projects in Germany, Japan, and the US (Highlander and the upcoming Blade 2). If you are interested in melodrama and lightning-fast action scenes then this movie is for you. |
