A John Woo action classic, not to be missed by anyone! Travolta and Cage are absolutely electrifying, playing each other's dramatic style perfectly (and this is coming from someone who isn't particularly fond of either actor!). The plot, seemingly impossible to pull off without cheesey tactics, is pulled off to a T, and the ending is somewhat upbeat for a John Woo film. Not to be missed by ANYONE! See it now!

Some fans enjoy John Woo for the director's action choreography. Many, however, dislike his movies because the action or the emotions (perhaps both) are "over the top". Both the action-lovers and the Woo-haters miss the point. If John Woo's earlier films were bullet ballets, then "Face/Off" is an opera. Woo's action sequences are not "over the top" because he's not only interested in telling stories; rather, he wants the audience to absorb the pleasure of watching the human body in motion. John Woo's inspiration and influence comes from Hollywood musicals, so his visual style is graceful and kinetic, even in comedies like "Once A Thief".

Even though "Face/Off" doesn't have Chow Yun-Fat, it has a completeness and emotional resonance that puts it at the top of Woo's oeuvre with "A Better Tomorrow", "The Killer", and "Once A Thief". After years filled with "heroic bloodshed", Woo showed us the "heroic healing" in which he believes.

Y"Face-Off" is the closest film that Americans will ever get from the real energy of master director John Woo. The movie has an original story, with great actors to pull off the madness. The Woo trademark, with doves, two guns, & slow-mo are impressive.JV47842

Hollywood superstars John Travolta and Nicholas Cage cross bullets and blows as bitter enemies wage war in the ultimate modern-day Shakespearean battle between good and evil in the explosive smash hit, Face/Off! Directed by one of Hong Kong's most highly acclaimed filmmakers, John Woo, the film is an intriguing, high velocity display of pure poetry and stylized action artistry that reflects the very essence of heroic bloodshed movies of Hong Kong cinema, past and present.

Also co-starring Alessandro Nivola, Dominique Swain, Joan Allen, Gina Gershon and Nick Cassavetes, Face/Off is an electrifying tale of a long-vengeful and battle scarred FBI agent whose one-man war against an elusive terrorist who murdered his son falls into a downward spiral of events, filled with twists and turns at every corner!

Filled with style and substance, hypnotic performances from a talented cast and dazzling scenes of the most high-caliber bullet ballet gun battles ever seen on in Hollywood feature, Face/Off is a true masterpiece that will leave your eyes red from not blinking...

...and blink shall you not!!!

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS: "Broken Arrow", "The Replacement Killers", "House Of Flying Daggers", "Passenger 57", "Ballistic Kiss", "Get Carter", "Paycheck", "Double Team", "Timecop", "Kiss Of The Dragon", "S.P.L.", "Flash Point", "2009: Lost Memories", "Legacy Of Rage", "Desperado", "Hard Boiled", "The Killer", "Lethal Weapon 2", "Mission: Impossible 2", "Mission: Impossible 3", "My Father Is A Hero", "Asian Cop High Voltage" and "Undercut".

YThis has to be John Woo's finest American movie. The story was original & the action was great.JV47842
YThis is correct. I enjoyed the movie very much, even more so because it followed much less successful American directorial efforts by John Woo. He is amazing in any language, so long as he is allowed by producers to do what he does best.Jeffrey Frawley
