| The DVD from Wolfe Releasing boasts a number of worthwhile special features. Although it features two compelling AIDS documentaries (one featuring Magic Johnson and Yao Ming), I was more impressed with the more mundane features, notably, the deleted scenes. There are several short, but meaningful scenes that were cut from the film. These extra scenes add a lot of information about the characters and their motivations, it adds a depth that was lacking in the movie. Many of the scenes are from the third segment of the film. We get to see Sister Clara before her mission to Africa and what her life was like in Canada (we learn she was previously stationed in Montreal). We also learn that she has an innate need, a burning desire to suffer like Christ did. This revelation sheds light on why gives her body to Hallyday to help so many people. She views this as her sacrifice, her cross to bear. She endures it for a greater cause. |
