Plot:	An aging assassin chooses to pass on his skills and knowledge to a directionless young petty thief.
Overview:	Wagner is an assassin. A contract killer. He's a professional who works by a strict set of rules, principles and ethics. But Wagner's getting old and wants to pass on all his skills and knowledge to a protege. So he chooses Max - a directionless young petty thief - to be his student in the art of murdering for money. Directed by Mathieu Kassovitz ("La Haine"), "Assassin(s)" is French cinema at its most compelling. A bold, visceral thriller that pulls no punches, the film features mesmerising performances from Michel Serrault ("Nelly & Monsieur Arnaud") as the aging hit-man and Kassovitz himself ("Amelie", "Munich") as his nihilistic novice. Often compared to Oliver Stone's "Natural Born Killers", the film's tense narrative is interwoven with a razor-sharp exploration of the media's love/hate relationship with violence. A sensory feast, the film boasts a hypnotic score from the Coen Brothers' regular composer Carter Burwell ("Fargo") and striking photography from "La Haine" cinematographer Pierre Aim. With its unflinching portrayal of brutality, "Assassin(s)" is a defiantly original and shockingly powerful journey into a dark and fascinating world.
