The first tasteful FX movie since the original "King Kong". The reason I say that is because this is our generation's "King Kong". Back in the day everyone was raving about "King Kong's" special effects. "Cloverfield" is our version.
The special effects were amazing, and the no-name actors did a fine job. The movie just amazes me because it was shot on a camcorder. It looks real and it feels real. A very true classic movie. -Black Belt Ninja (see my profile) LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!| AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | Idk if i would go that far and calling it the "King Kong" of our generation. But to me the movie was fun and I think it will become a classic in the future. | JV47842 |
The only complaint I have about this film is that it's never the same as the first time you viewed it, because you know what happens next and you've already experienced all of the emotions the film puts you through. Definitely a classic.-Movie Freak (see my profile) LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!| AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | JV's right, this movie is crapped on a lot for no reason. It's a great adventure that has several enjoyable aspects. Very awesome and worth owning. | Bastard Ronin | | Y | Agree- a great monster film- I call it a classic but there are a lot of people that bash this film- I loved every sec of it. | JV47842 |

| Took me awhile to finally check out this flick. It was completely worth it.
"Cloverfield" is packed with high energy thrills and unyielding momentum. The story told is very simplistic, but that may add to the classic qualities of this feature. This is the best monster movie that I have seen in years. It even trumps "The Host", which is no small feat. You got a little something for everybody: action, excitement, drama, and humor. I know the whole shaky-cam thing did bother a lot of folks, but honestly I thought it was a very good device for the whole movie as it added to the frantic nature of the film while grounding it in a gritty and realistic manor that almost seems to give the monster that much more credibility.
FINAL SUMMATION: This flick is more fun than you can have with a German shepherd, a hooker, and a whole jar of peanut butter. Go check this one out. Highly entertaining, you won't be let down. Now, I got to bolt. I have to fly a 747 to England in 20 minutes and this whiskey isn't going to drink itself. |

I saw the picture and it's not that great. I admitt it's a better version of Godzilla US version. This movie is just plain stupid & really bad. | Rhonda Bale | | Y | | JV47842 | | Y | | Choco |
"Cloverfield" is a love it or hate it flick...and I love this film! It's a "Blair Witch"-style movie meeting a "Godzilla" film. The result is a fun thrill ride that would definitely give you a headache with the stylish shaky-cam. There's really not much that you need to know about the plot, just a group of New Yorkers running into a giant monster. If you want a fun flick, check it out!-JV47842 (see my profile) LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!| AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | i really liked this one but it seems the ending wasn't spelled out enough for some people who hate it | AH1706 | | Y | Good points as always. How I could I disagree? | Bastard Ronin | | Y | Yes, your right it's a Blair witch movie meeting a Gozilla movie. | Ashley |
