I own quite a few Asian television series, as well as movies---Korean, Taiwanese, Cantonese, Japanese---and this is definitely one of my favorites. The story and characters are both engrossing and addicting.

However, I took off half a star for the female lead screaming when she accidentally sees the man she loves naked, and half a star for her other scream when he accidentally sees her naked. I do understand how very conservative Asian television series tend to be---basically this is the way older people want it to be--but too many times the female reaction to being kissed, or almost kissed, or accidental stuff like the above is WAY overdone and not at all realistic. Especially when the protagonists are adults and in love. And I'm a girl who hates pornography. I don't have the same complaint about Asian movies.

I would like to start off by saying that I bought this set for my daughter, who fell in love with it and watched it nonstop for three days. Granted, I was working, but when I got home she was camped out in front of the TV watching it in subtitles. She was so into the story at one point she was almost in tears. So without further dawdling, I'll let her tell you what she thought.

I would like to bring up the reason I wanted this DVD set. I started reading "The Devil Does Exist" by Mitsuba Takaneshi. I went online and found a live action soap opera that was most likely based from it, "The Devil Beside You". After watching [clips], I decided I wanted it. After hours of searching, I finally found HKFlix. One of the ONLY places that I could order it with English subtitles. Then that was where my dad came in, but back to my thoughts. Well I ended up recieveing it and like my dad said I camped out in the living room for a few days. Xiao Yue's unintentional bloopers--like giving the letter to the wrong guy, day dreaming about garlic breath, among others. Then Ah Meng (I believe I spelled that right) is the "devil" to her in the start, taking what he pleases. They end up loving each other even though they are destined to be siblings. I laughed, I cried, I loved this series! I recomend this to people who love romantic comedy, and those who don't mind reading subtitles.

It may be long, it took me almost two days to watch it all. I bought it when I found it was based on my favorite manga, "The Devil Does Exist". (Let me tell you, it wasn't easy to find a place that sold it with English subtitles. But back to this story...) I loved almost every minute. Xiao Yue is such a funny girl who expressed her emotions in such a strange way. Though towards the end I actually cried, I was so into it. I laughed, I cried, I'd suggest this show to anyone--well, anyone who doesn't mind reading subtitles.

What a great loveteam, you chose the perfect tandem for this movie. Loved Mike and Rainie, no one else could have portrayed these roles any better than this perfect couple! Would love to see them do a DBY2!!!
