Plot:	The story begins in modern day Taipei and flashbacks into 1967 during China's Cultural Revolution. The main character played by John Sham helps to save an ailing TV show "Whiz Kids World" by molding a child prodigy into a chess king.
Overview:	Tony Leung Ka-Fai ("Dragon Inn", "The Lover") stars in this mesmerizing drama co-directed by Tsui Hark ("Once Upon A Time In China" series). Leung is Ching a TV executive for a show about Whiz Kids. He discovers a young genius known as "The Chess King" who has extrasensory powers. Ching decides to have the child compete against a conceited chess champion on a live broadcast. As the date of the televised match approaches, Ching remembers another "Chess King" during the tumultuous days of the Cultural Revolution...
