 | | | | Pure Jackie Chan fun, a movie that is created for Jackie Chan, propelled by Jackie Chan, directed by Jackie Chan, starring Jackie Chan, and probably catered by Jackie Chan, too. The fun energy of the making of the film really translates through to the finished project. True there isn't a great deal of martial arts until the end, but the end more than makes up for it with over-the-top energy and awesome, bone-crunching fights. Hong Kong's answer to "Indiana Jones", if Indiana Jones was a martial artist. | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | Catered. LOL. | Choco |

| This is not exactly a favourite of mine. But hell... it's a Jackie Chan movie from the 80's and thus deserves a place in any JC fans collection.
It is a bit uneven in it's structure (probably due to Jackie's near fatal accident) and tries out different ideas, that are hit or miss, depending on the viewer (Alan Tam concert footage, flashbacks, dream sequence etc.).
The story, although all in good fun, is also pretty far fetched. Evil monk cult kidnaps girl to get their hands on an ancient artifact.... in 1986. This would be more easily digestable if the film was high on action and great fights, alas that is not the case. But what action there is, is pretty good. Especially the end fight, with Jackie fighting the monks and (for some reason) four tall black girls... quite obviously doubled by the JC stunt team.
The chemistry between Chan, Tam and Lola Forner is pretty good. But not as good as when Chan, Sammo, Biao and those guys get together.
This is obviously Jackie's attempt at the Indiana Jones type adventure genre. And it's a noble effort. But due to the aforementioned flaws it just doesn't quite get there.
The sequel OPERATION CONDOR fixed more or less all the problems this film has, and ended up as a far superior adventure outing for Chan. |

 | | | | "Armor Of God" is so far one of the best movies ever produced. I have watched the movie on and on for as much as only GOD knows. Cheers to Jackie and the whole crew. Job well done. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | I rate this as Jackie's best. This was the first Jackie film I watched and made me a fan of HK films, now owning 200 films. Buy it and enjoy! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | This movie had a very strong adventure story, and also had very well planned fights. But the most impressive part is the title music--when the film credits roll. I first saw this movie in 1986-87, and I've seen it at least 100 times since. This film was, is, and will be forever the best movie of all time. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
