This mini-series was a surprise. The picture on the box shows four high school kids, and it looks like it might be serious but silly, with the female lead acting like a loud, perky, bouncy, bad tempered four year old.
From a feminist and also aesthetic viewpoint, it's annoying that a few Korean directors make some young Korean women look like baby idiots in othewise really good television series.
Thank God most aren't like that because Korean filmmakers sure know how to hold your attention and keep you eyes riveted to the screen. And keep you up all night weeping, or in the case of most men, wanting to weep.
The surprise was that all the actors/actresses were natural and adult, the story was captivating and difficult right out of the gate, and the male lead (Lee Dong Gun) was fairly sleazy and sinister--unusual for a mini-series.
This story has more mysteries and twists than you expect.
I have other Lee Dong Gun films, and he proves to be a much more versatile actor than I expected.
