Dark and foreboding, and that is just the atmosphere in the real world in this top class horror/fantasy. A female detective asks for the nightmare detective to assist in solving unfathomable murders apparently committed in the victims' dreams. The police detective fits in with her team like a square peg, the nightmare detective is a loner who has had enough of entering people's dreams. The real world is grey and the cityscape overwhelming, and this landscape is the same when the victims dream. They are chased and hacked and sliced in some very energetic, fast and furious sequences.
The tension builds as one person after another tries to escape from their dreams, and the time is coming for the female detective and her unwilling but chivalrous ally.
Slow in spots but has some very creepy moments. A sexy and beautiful detective also helps in those slow spots. This will be the next foreign horror movie that us Americans will ruin (see "The Grudge", "The Eye", and "Pulse" to name a few). But, all in all, a cut above the norm.
