"Triangle" [is] a gritty crime thriller, but it just seemed to go nowhere. I was looking forward to the film because it was done by three different Hong Kong filmmakers--Tsui Hark does the first half, the second half is Ringo Lam, and the third goes to Johnnie To.
"Triangle" could have been something amazing; sadly the film is a let-down. It has a nice start about three desperate people who need money for different reasons, then leads to a weird thriller middle and then explodes into a capture-the-flag-style ending. I am giving the movie 2 and half stars for the beginning and the ending--Ringo Lam could have done much more with the middle. The capture-the-flag-style ending is worth watching again--though nothing amazing in this picture by three talented Hong Kong action filmmakers.
