In 1972 a new production company, Star Sea Films, emerged in Hong Kong to join the prosperity of the kung fu movie craze. The owner and producer happened to be a friend of superstar Bruce Lee and received his support by helping with their production "Unicorn Fist". The following year, Star Sea was making their biggest film to date: The Chivalrous Knight.

Starring in this tale of redemption and revenge was famed actor and kickboxer Chan Wai Man and in the female lead Bruce Lee's friend Betty Ting Pei. Bruce Lee died during the filming and the movie was dedicated to his spirit.
