I saw this movie at the theater in the early 70's and really like it. I am glad that it is now available for viewing again. As a historical piece with the Japanese command on Okinawa seen through Col. Yahara's eyes, we get to understand the battle for the island from the japanese side.Yahara was one of two senior officers to have survived the battle.
