Runa's Confession is no exception. This film is 10% story and 90% sex. Five minutes don't go by without an explosive sex scene that lasts almost as long as a sex scene would in hardcore porn films.

Runa is driven to the convent after she catches her boyfriend cheating on her -- with her sister! Not only was he cheating on her with her sister, he was having sex with her sister... in the same room! In front of her! The story is told in flashback and Runa just wakes up to sound loud moaning and screaming only to see her sister getting plowed. Director Konuma uses a roaring fire to obstruct the action ... just barely!

Runa becomes a nun, but, as she says later in the movie "in finding God, I also found the devil." The devil being, in this case, an absolute psychopath priest who chases the nuns around the convent grounds and violently rapes them every single day. This priest is a bona fide lunatic escaped from an asylum for the criminally insane. He hounds Runa fucking her while she tolls the bell, while she's milking the cows, whenever and wherever he can. He rips her robes open and slaps her into submission while raping her.

Runa finds solace in the comfort of a fellow nun who, while gentler than the priest, has a lust for Runa that matches his. The movie comes complete with a steamy lesbian nun sex scene that could be lifted from any nun porn film.

During her time in hell, Runa has been plotting the perfect revenge against her sister and sex-crazed ex-boyfriend Kage. She offers the two a real estate deal that they can't refuse so they can take the money and get married. After all, Runa forgives them and only wants them to make each other happy.... yeah, right.

The two fall for it and begin scamming to raise as much money as they can. Runa's sister calls in every sugar daddy she's been playing for the last four years. She cons half a dozen men out of millions in yen. She offers each of them a calligraphy-like impression of her genitals as a sign of her devotion.

However, Runa has been counting on this. She arranges for the men to meet and then one of Kage's girlfriends reveals to them that Runa's sister has been playing them for fools. Runa gets her revenge when the men arrange a meeting with her sister and then proceed to gang rape her.

This scene is the most violent rape I've scene in film. Six men fight for who's next to get their revenge fuck. Finally, one man can't stand waiting and rapes her mouth. She gets plowed again and again and again. The bartender masturbates while watching until she finally joins in. Six guys and two girls, only one of which is consensual. This would make an incredible porn film.

Runa herself throws herself at Kage. "I'd gladly betray God for you!" she offers as she strips out of her robes. The sex scene is gratuitous, long and torrid. Runa never takes her habit off through the entire length of the scene. She is naked except for her veil while Kage goes to town. Again, this would make an incredible X-rated film.

However, just enough is obstructed to make this a (barely) acceptable softcore film.

The movie has a twist ending that I won't reveal, but Runa does get her sweet, sweet revenge on Kage, her sister and the lecherous priest.

I should probably take the film to task for its unrealistic portrayal of women and sex. Runa's sister gets raped repeatedly throughout the film and actually appears to enjoy it. In one scene, Kage wants a bigger cut of the profits. He convinces her to give it to him by, how else? By raping her! After Runa's sister is gang-raped, she simply comes home "tired" rather than severely traumatized.

While not my favorite Japanese nunsploitation film (that honor still belongs to School of the Holy Beast, Runa's Confession is still fantastic. The story is twisted and convoluted and the sex scenes are non-stop.

There may be too much sex for some viewers. Other viewers may get frustrated by the fact that the film comes very, very close to pornographic without going hardcore. It's a matter of individual taste, but if you're looking for a nunsploitation film that truly pushes the envelope, Runa's Confession may be just the film for you!

One goes into a nunsploitation film expecting a good bit of nun-sex, and there was some in the beginning, including a rape by the rector, and one nun on nun incident, but that wasn't what this movie was all about.

It was a story of revenge, and double crossing — maybe even triple-crossing. Runa was out to get back at her fiancé and sister for an act of betrayal. She managed an elaborate con to do it. In the middle, sis is doing a bit of conning of her own that results in a huge payback by the men she duped. Those doing the conning with Runa get conned in the end in a delicious twist that has you rooting.

As to the sex, I can imagine there is another film out there called "Cloistered Nun: Runa's Obsession," as the sex was just short of XXX. It just seems that judicious editing was made to a porn film.

Nun-sex, lesbian sex, rape, and gang bangs: this film has it all, but it had a great story, too.
