Not a very good story, but the acting was fantastic! My favourite favourite must be Ben Ben. He is so cute and adorable. I can't believe a little kid like him could act so well. Normally the good child actors are ugly and not cute, but he has everything. It's so sad to see him appear in so little movies.

While this might easily be considered one of Sam Hui's best films it is hard to recall him in this keyed down role. A Family Affair could be seen as a Chinese version of The Parent Trap. Viewers here however are not given one child star playing two roles, but are introduced to Xiao Bin-Bin and Helen Chan playing as younger brother and older sister. These two kids steal the film away from the adult stars who never really get a chance to steal it back. Director Dean Shek played the grandfather in the film and this gave him a chance to work closely with the young actors. Perhaps this is why the film focuses so closely upon them. Towards the end of the film there does seem to be one too many scenes of the kids crying. This and other obvious attempts at tugging on the viewers heartstrings are readily apparent throughout the film, but it is enjoyable none the less. This is definitely a film to see of you like watching films with kids as the main attraction.
