 | | | | This 1987 action film is one of the best movies(and there are quite a few. Hong Kong action fans like it: fast, brutal, and administered by attractive and deadly females. It is packed with bullets blazing and fists flying, leading to some of the most brutal and crazy action sequences put to film! When Hong Kong action fans speak of the genre's "Golden Age", they typically refer to the violent excess of movies like Iron Angels, which feature only a modicum of plot and virtual bucketloads of action. This is one movie to own. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

| An awesome, ass-kicking "girls with guns" classic, if ever there was one. Battling babes, cool dudes, fast fights, bloody gunplay. What more do you need?
I guess this is sort of a hyped up HK version of "Charlie's Angels". And while I've always enjoyed the jiggly exploits of Farrah and co., those girls sure didn't get down like this.
Moon Lee and Elaine Lui are cute as always. But they don't come to play. They come to kick ass and bust caps, while Alex Fong and Hideki Saijo also bring their skills to the table. Throw in Yukari Oshima as the delightfully evil villain, and the mighty Hwang Jang Lee, with his deadly array of kicks, and you're set.
There is very little downtime here. It's pretty much wall to wall action. Tight fights from Tony Leung Siu-Hung, crazy gunplay and cool stunts. Even when there isn't any action onscreen, it is still highly entertaining, due to the high production value, campy characters, and good cast chemistry.
There is some discrepancy over who actually directed this. But to whomever the credit rightly befalls, they did a great job here. Most GWG flicks were, aside from the great action, fairly cheap and cheesy affairs. This movie looks great, has an excellent 80's synth score, and just has the feel of a big scale, high budget production, even if that was not the case.
Any fan of 80's HK action should have this in their collection. |

| This is an action-packed adventure from the 1980s, centered on a mercenary crime-fighting organization run by John (played by David Chiang) called the Angels (well, the name's not very original). They're hired to take down a drug smuggling organization responsible for assassinating or kidnapping the police offers who pulled off a major drug bust.
Alas, David Chiang himself doesn't do any kung-fu, but his three "Angels" plentifully punch, kick, or shoot their way through a huge army of bad guys to bring down the evil mastermind of the crime ring, a cruel woman named Yeung who's also a cocky martial artist.
The Angels consist of Saijo, a no nonsense Japanese martial arts master, a young girl named Moon, who looks too cute to be a convincing commando, and Elaine, who is the sassiest but clumsiest of the bunch. There's also Commander Fong, a Chinese-American narcotics officer sent to help the Hong Kong Police.
Hwang Jang Li has a cameo as a mid-level gangster who is conflicted with Yeung's murderous ruthlessness, but other than a few very brief fights, you don't get to see much of his legendary kicking skills.
Nonetheless, this film is non-stop entertainment. I only wish more of the so-called summer blockbusters that Hollywood produces each year were half as much fun and exciting. |

 | | | | A real treat to watch. INTENSE action, only marred by the fact that the fights are too few and too short. But it's still easily worth it to see Moon Lee and Yukari Oshima go at it! The story and everything else is average for the genre--still, highly recommended. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | If you crave 80's-style action, you could do worse. While not on the level of the "In The Line Of Duty" series, this is still a pretty decent watch. It reminded me of a time when action films were done well. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

| | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I agree with everything you said. Although you say there's enough action for you, to me theres just not enough to keep me interested. 2 1/2 stars for Yukari Oshima and Moon Lee and that's it. | William Giordanella |

 | | | | A cheesy but enjoyable 80's action movie with a 'synthy' soundtrack that I can't get out of my head for some weird reason. The gunfights are especially cheesy and the MA action sequences are rare and short. However, what's in there in terms of martial arts is AWESOME thanks mainly to the combined efforts of Yukari Oshima, Moon Lee and the great Hawang Jang Lee. The fighting finale between Oshima and Lee in particular is vicious and worth seeing the movie for. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
