| Overview: | After an absence of several years from the screen, Anita Mui returned with a vengeance in 2001. First came the light and very popular Wu Yen, followed by the dark and brooding Midnight Fly (in which she gave a terrific performance), and then the year-end releases Dance of a Dream and Let's Sing Along.
Anita, in real life a very accomplished and confident vocal stylist and stage performer, portrays someone who is the exact opposite–a woman who becomes ill at the thought of getting up in front of anyone to sing. Enter "King Wong" (played by Dayo Wong Chi-Wah), one of her co-workers, who is considered royalty in the rarefied world of karaoke. An unlikely romance ensues.
Though some of the cultural humor and inside jokes about the music business may be hard to fathom for those of us who don't live in Hong Kong, the generally merry romantic tone established by director Matt Chow (PR Girls, United We Stand and Swim) predominates, resulting in an enjoyable if lightweight film.
