The director's 2004 short film, "Cashback", received such a positive reception on the film festival circuit that he decided to expand it into a full-length feature. But since he was already happy with everything about the short, he decided to simply cast the same actors and shoot more footage to go on either end of the existing short, rather than re-shooting the existing footage. Amazingly, it's seamless.
