 | | | | Not Herschell Gordon Lewis' best effort, it definitely lags behind his more infamous works like "Blood Feast", "Wizard of Gore", and "Two Thousand Maniacs". The idea is pretty solid: a good-girl Nancy Drew type investigates why all her friends are mysteriously disappearing and who is making such excellent wigs. I do like the rather twisted idea of scalping women for wigs because it is just so wrong, it's like Sweeney Todd but only in '60s Florida. The gore is there, and frankly if you are going to watch one of Herschell Gordon Lewis' movies, that is what you are there for; but aside from the gore the rest of the movie struggles with poor pacing. Definitely not the movie you want to start your Herschell Gordon Lewis ride on, but if you've seen his better works and are still hungry for some more low budget splatter, this will satisfy. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
