 | | | | First and foremost, this film looks great. The cinematography, landscapes and C.G.I. are as good as it gets. It just looks cool.
The plot does have some problems though in trying to tie the film together. The use of multiple flashbacks got a bit confusing, and once I wasn't sure whether I was in the past or present, Earth or "heaven". But as the movie travelled along, it got a lot easier to follow and ultimately it gets away with it.
Too bad a little bit more of an effort wasn't put into the continuity of the story and characters because it gets so close to being absolutely brilliant, but instead it's just ultra-cool.
Still well worth seeing, it really is great fun. A must for fans of "Shinobi", "Shadowless Sword", "Death Trance", and "Seven Swords". | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Very neat story. There is a lot that is crammed into it, so some areas feel vague. Nice use of CGI. Cool WuXai style fight scenes. The story kinda' has that "City of Angels" feel, just not as sad. :) | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | The plot of the film is not really a strong one. There will be times where you are left scratching your head hoping for an explanation for certain things. But what truly saved the film for me and for some people who agree with me is CGI and the landscape of Midheaven. And the action sequences--even though there are not many, they don't disappoint. The biggest scene stealer would have to be the protagonist vs. 5,000 to 10,000 demon soldiers. The acting is a bit stiff and the female star of the film (Kim Tae-Hee) really needs to learn how to have more than just two facial expresions (a surprised expresion or a sad expresion). She has shown promise but she has long way to go. So in closing, the story could have been executed better but the CGI deffinetly makes up for it. See it only if you are into the Asian fantasy genre. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Best film recently from Korea. If you enjoy "Shadowless Sword", you will enjoy this. It's a bit different, this movie focuses more on special effects than real martial arts. First I did not really enjoy it. Then when it come to the end, when the main guy takes on a 1000-zombie army, man, it's worth the purchase price alone. So stylish and cool, trust me, it's definitely worth keeping. The end is a mix of "300", "The Matrix", and "Final Fantasy", so imagine how good that will be. Don't wait, order that copy today. Also see "Shadowless Sword" if you haven't seen it. Other recommended Korean martial arts films: "Arahan", "City Of Violence", "The Host", and "My Wife Is A Gangster 3". Trust me, I watch them all; they are all really good. Korea has started to make some really great martial arts movies now. Keep your fingers crossed for more Korea fu please! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
