 | | | | You know when they slap "from the creator of 'Battle Royale'" [on the cover] it must be good, right? I mean there is no way this could be dull. I mean look at the cover, there's like an atom bomb-size exposion! But wait, here we go. And nothing--and I do mean nothing--nothing makes sense, nothing happens for most of the movie, and when you reach a certain point nothing can save the time you wasted. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | "Yo Yo Girl Cop" has an over-the-top premise about girl who is trained to kill with a yo yo. With that excellent story I wish I could say the same thing about the movie. The story was complex, about suicide student bombers and Yo Yo girl cop going undercover to catch the bastards behind these crimes. Directed by Kenta Fukasaku, who wrote the brutal and amazing "Battle Royale". The problem with this movie is that a lot of the CGI looked fake and the action was dull--it reminded me of the "Power Rangers" days. What's also suffering is the balance of the film--is it trying to make me laugh or am I supposed to be scared? It just didn't make sense. The premise is so good on paper, but I am sad to say it's not even decent on the screen. But there is hope for other movies with an idea of a lame toy weapon movie--how about Hacky Sack Girl Cop? That would work. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Not a comedy. Better than the earlier "Sukeban Deka" live action movie. Riki Takeuchi plays a cop here instead of his usual yakuza character, and I thought he did a good job. The new Sukeban girl is hinted to be the daughter of the original one. The whole plot occurs in a three-day period, so she doesn't have much time to get good at the yo-yo. Some may not like the editing, but I thought it was good. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
