Chinese Super Ninja All Content Used With Permission. ![]() A classic Shaw Brothers film! Everything is excellent. I can't wait for Tokyo Shock's R1 release, and hopefully they include the classic English dubbing that many of us originally saw the film in. ![]() ![]() One of the all-time greatest SB movies. A must-have for any self-respecting kung fu fan. Highly recommended. ![]() ![]() Half of the Venoms are featured in this, so you can't go wrong. Lots of cool Shaw Bros. style action. -Johnnie Freeze (see my profile) ![]() Freaking awesome. A classic. ![]() Good fighting movie. The plot is fairly generic but the choreograohy is very good. I was sorry to see Lo Mang's character killed off so early. However, Cheng Tien Chi's relationship with Chen Pei Hsi provides sparks and venom simultaneously. ![]() Highly regarded Venoms movie, a bit silly for my taste, with plenty of blood and guts and farcical action scenes. If you like silly action scenes with ninjas and heads flying off, etc., you will probably like this. Not for the purists. ![]() Absolutely one of the best Chang Cheh movies. A must-see. You'll see the conflict between two clans(good verus evil) at the beginning of the movie. The evil clan can't win over the good clan, and they invited the Japanese warrior to spar with the chief, but one of the warriors was forced to killed himself just because he lost his weapon during the battle. Finally, Lo Meng, with bare hands (just like usual: no weapons), takes on the samurai and snatches his sword. Cheng Tien She, Wang Li, Chu Kho, Yu Tay Ping, and the super villain Chen Hui Min gives the the best performance in the last battle. The rest of the movie is full of gory action--lots of blood like you expect from director Chang Cheh. The story is pretty straightforward: revenge, revenge, kill, kill--a high bodycount. ![]() Amazing action and great creativity in the ninjas' different element "styles." The film is exciting (and bloody) throughout. Loses one point as some of the action is sped up and the kung-fu men's costumes are really really bad (ninjas look good though!). ![]() Well there isn't much I can say about this film that hasn't already been said, so I shall just say this film is FANTASTIC, classic Chang Cheh. ![]() I first saw this movie in a theater long ago, seeing it again just confirmed my first opinion of it. It's great. ![]() This is by far the best Shaw Brothers film. A true classic. ![]() Interesting for its take on ninjas and ninja skills. And Chan Wei Man! On the other hand, can be overly predictable and cheap looking. But worth it, at least for the last set of battles. ![]() ![]() ![]() This movie, along with "Five Deadly Venoms", are my two favourite old school Shaw Brothers kung fu flix. I remember how everyone in the theatre was filled with emotions when I first saw this movie in the mid 80s. This movie deserves 10 stars out of five if you understand what I mean. I am extremely happy that the original version has been restored and his now available for collectors like myself. I gaurantee anyone that watches this movie will never forget it. A true classic from start to finish, one of the all-time best. -Noel 'Bravo' Francis (see my profile) ![]() ![]() Simply the best Shaw Production I've seen on screen. The action is superb. My all-time favorite. ![]() What is there really left to say....?! One of the most enjoyable Shaw Brothers movies ever made. And just an all around awesome old skool Ninja flick. For me, this is part of the ultimate Ninja movie trifecta, alongside NINJA IN THE DRAGONS DEN and DUEL TO THE DEATH. I leave all that Sho Kosugi, American Ninja crap to the ones that doesn't know any better. I was never really a big fan of Ricky Cheng Tien Chi, but in this movie he is great. So is Lo Meng in a good supporting role, and of course the Awesome Chan Wai Man as the fearsome Ninja leader. If you're not thoroughly entertained by this movie.... check your pulse. This is a must-have. ![]()
![]() This is one of my favorite films. It's about this martial arts clan who are given a challenge by the 5 element ninjas after defeating a samurai from a rival clan. Of course the martial arts clan lose and are wiped out by the ninjas. one man survives and learns ninjistu from some old master and takes revenge. A lot of fights and all of it good. No doubt one of the best. ![]() I would give this film 6 stars if I could! "Five Element Ninja" is the movie that Quentin Tarantino wishes were his. The restored print [on the Celestial DVD] will have you saying "I don't remember seeing that part before". And the parts that you do remember look so much more colourful and properly centered in the new version. "Five Element Ninja" will ambush your senses and spit out the bones. ![]()
![]() ![]() This is a classic that is loved by most Venom fans, despite the fact that Lo Meng is the only original Venom cast (whereas there are other "baby" Venoms present). The opening scene is tops and sets the tone for the rest of the movie. Of course there are some campy moments galore (for instance, the golden tinfoil ninjas or even when Ricky Cheng Tien and his ninja brothers form that ridiculous formation which is resembles a circus act); but otherwise, Venom/costume era fans should enjoy this movie. Besides, you get to see some nice skimpy action from Chen Pei Hsi. ![]() For this to get anything less than five stars is a travesty. While many moguls of kung fu cinema have tried their best to capture profoundity and epic story telling "Chinese Super Ninjas" does exactly what it sets out to do. What is that? Well it sets out to give the audience a ride to enjoy. It delivers ten fold. From the opening you realize it's time to leave your sensibilities outside and witness gory action, outlandish characters and insane kung fu at its best. "Crouching Tiger..." this is not. To say the violence is insane would be an understatement. Elemental ninjas suffer all manners of death including being torn in half. The good guys don't suffer any easier either! Absolutely recommended to any kung fu fan and even those that aren't. -Shaun Williams (see my profile)
![]() When you view this film leave logical plausibility outside at the door. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the non stop gory-action, the colorful costumes, the jaw dropping stunts, and awsome storyline of revenge! Some count this as a Venom film with the presence of Lo Meng and some of the baby Venoms. I count this as a great spectacle of a Shaolin based clan going against ninjas. Michael Chun Wai Man is excellent as the Ninja Boss. ![]() The number 1 all time kung film in my opinion. Period. -Kung Fu Classic Viewer (see my profile) ![]() One of the best (and goriest) Shaw Brothers films. The director and some of the stars of "Five Deadly Venoms" create a truly memorable martial arts film. Great, creative fight scenes, set pieces, a simple yet interesting plot, and solid direction. Some of the effects are dated, but somehow it fits the story. I just pray Hollywood does not remake this!!!! ![]() Kind of ridiculous in certain parts, but it all helps to fuel a fun, imaginative tale; while the protagonist seems a bit sadistic toward the end, he gives a good complex performance, especially when he questions the rightness of his actions. ![]() ![]() Another Shaw Bros. classic--a film which features the Venoms clan as warriors who must fight masters in the art of Japanese ninjitsu. The film is in a list of great Shaw Bros. films. -KW9784 (see my profile) ![]() I got this only because my favorite Venom, Lo Meng, is in it. I did not get the original language version. Anyone who is a Venoms fan knows how Lo Meng is treated in too many of their early movies. I thought that he would be at least one of the STARS surrounded by this cast. NOPE. I am happy I did not pay too much. I think I had to start watching this 3 or 4 times to finish it. I think people get this for Ricky Tien. I am just not a fan! This is one of the rare times when I cannot even remember the storyline and I refuse to watch it again to be reminded!
![]() This movie displays action at its best. The first 5 to 10 minutes of the movie can put anyone that is interested in Chinese Martial arts in awe. Of course let's not forget that typical Chinese art is better than Japanese art, just to set the pace. However, I am not really sure if the message of revenge was carried out in the right perspective. Here you have two schools with their best fighters, and because of a phrase a war between the schools is set off--or was it really those words? (Loss of a fight means loss of a life in Japanese.) Nevertheless, awesome feats of acrobatic skills and martial arts fighting, even Lue Chan's (I think that is his name) part was very superb. And since he is the Kid With The Golden Arms it is even more amazing to see him move at such a fast pace. I give Super Ninjas 2 thumbs up ![]() Not a classic, but it wasnt bad either. ![]() Classic. ![]() The name says it all: Chinese. Super. Ninja. Does it get any more badass? Nope, not really. ![]() If you like old school Kung Fu with a lot of action, then this movie is for you. It has lots of great fighting scenes and is really a fun movie. The plot may seem a little hokey, but the action more then makes up for what may lack in the plot. Definitely recommend. -William Giordanella (see my profile) ![]() ![]() I loved the action. ![]() Very good film. ![]() Good old-school fights, needs a bit more storyline. And if they made this film on a bigger budget, would be great. I hope there is a remake of this classic! ![]()
![]() Excellent film highly recommend to add this one to you collection. This is a classic ![]() It's one of the best--if not the best--kung fu movies ever. ![]() Another classic Shaw Brothers movie! Superb fight scenes, (plenty of them!) Great costumes, classic Shaw backgrounds, storyline is a classic, trust me on this one, get it now and enjoy it!!!! Another great Shaw Bros. Old School kung fu movie!!!!! ![]() This is one of my all-time favorite martial arts movies. ![]() Well, I love this movie! It's one of my favorites for two reasons: first of all, the main protagonist is the most handsome and attractive actor in the HK scene (Ricky Cheng Tien Chi); second, this movie is full of blood, violence and creative choreography that excites me a lot. It's definitely a classic and I recommend this to all fans of martial films! -FL21480 (see my profile) ![]() First of all this movie's original title was "5 Element Ninja", which I prefer. However, the title "Chinese Super Ninja" seems to refer to the main character, who it fits. The film starts with a great scene: two rival Chinese masters pit their ten top fighters against each other in a weapons battle. Interestingly, the weapons are based on actual weapons from an 18th-century catalog. Anyhow one master enlists the Japanese. The Japanese issue a challenge to the "good" master to send his best men to fight the 5 Element Ninja. This results in some of the best scenes ever--and it's only the first half of the movie. The finale is unbelievable. This movie is quite violent. Basically, if you like ninja, this movie masterpiece cannot be missed!!! ![]() "Chinese Super Ninjas" is one of the best Shaw Brothers films for all the wrong reasons. It's campy as hell, but also fun as hell. Even with a cropped full screen picture, it doesn't take out any of the sheer enjoyment of watching these people tear each other apart. I almost shed a tear of joy. ![]() "Chinese Super Ninjas" is a great martial arts film if you're looking for lots of action. The story is a little bit weak, but so are a lot of martial arts films and as fans we really want to see the fight scenes anyway. So I would recommend this movie to any martial arts fan. ![]() This movie is incredibly the best ninja movie I have ever seen and to make this funny, the last time I seen this movie was like 15 years ago, and it was the only movie I been wanting to see again but I couldn't find it until now but it's not in stock and I was very dissappointed because of how bad I been wanting to order this film. I've been looking this movie for about 5 years and nobody has it.. ![]() I grew up in the 80's watching this martials arts classic. The story, the action, it's incredible!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() Bravo!!!!!!!!!!! That's all I can say! ![]()
![]() This is a really good movie from start to end. And if you like extraordinary fight scenes involving hidden talents, this is the movie to watch. ![]()
