See now…that’s what I’m talking about! Apparently this was one of Shaw Brothers' last big martial art films and they wanted to go out with a bang. See, I’m not a fan of slapstick comedy in my martial arts, so that disqualifies countless late 70s/early 80s movies from ever entering my DVD player, but I kept hearing so much about this one that I hesitantly checked it out and HOLY SMOKE was I ever in for a treat! This gem is just so over the top in violence and blood that you don’t even care that the “plot” is, more or less, like every other Shaw film. The fight scenes are awesome and there’s lots of them, plus the corny comedy is kept to a minimum. Heaven…I’m in Heaven! Keep in mind that I am referring to the uncut version of the film. Any other version may diminish the “Oh, Snap!” factor considerably.
