The Power Of Aikido All Content Used With Permission. ![]() Overall the movie was okay. ![]()
![]() Great movie. Ueshiba's story closer to to truth. Great action. ![]() I love the art of Aikido, but Sonny Chiba wasn't really the main star of the film. That kind of took things away from the movie. It could have been better, plus the version I watched could have been remastered better too. ![]() ![]() This is a movie chronicling the life and adventures of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, as portrayed by Jiro Chiba. Jiro--brother to Sonny Chiba, who also stars in a supporting role as a vicious Karate fighter--does an excellent job. He acts well and fights well. His best scenes are when he fights his brother. This reminded me of the Mas Oyama trilogy on the life of Mas Oyama as portrayed by Sonny Chiba. At the begining of the Oyama movies, you see real footage of Oyama. The same holds true here as you see footage of the real Ueshiba in action. Good movie! ![]() This is a rare movie telling the life of Aikido founder, Morihei Ueshiba. I watched this movie as a teenager 30 years ago and that is why I bought the DVD. ![]() This film has a slight story about how Aikido came into being. A kind of little family saga mixed with a revenge plot for a leader/husband to get back at the person who has ruined his village/wife lives. However it is more a vehicle for showing you what a great fighter Sonny Chiba is--although he is not really in the movie for more than about half, his brother is the main star. All in all it is not bad and the fighting is quite good showing an exciting visciousness that you get with Sonny Chiba.
