Point 1. They know what the audience wants
5.2 million Koreans saw "My Wife Is a Gangster", and "Married to the Mafia" drew in 5 million people. The box office success of these films was thanks to the experience and effort of the crew. Director CHO Jin-gyu opened a new trend for Korean comedies with "My Wife Is a Gangster". The writer KIM Young-chan also incorporated meaningful, humane laughter in "Marrying the Mafia". Together their learned talents and skills are well entwined in "Who's Got the Tape?", which will undoubtedly rewrite the history of Korea comedies in 2004.
Point 2. It beats everyone's expectations
A comic trio with nothing in common!
YOO Dong-geun is called the king of gentlemen. LEE Sung-jin is an extraordinary entertainer. LEE Moon-sik is an actor who spices up the fun of films he stars in. These three got together for the first time in "Who's Got the Tape?". They delivered their parts far better than anybody could ever expect. YOO Dong-geun ad-libbed with his baritone voice, and LEE Sung-jin showed off his acting skills. LEE Moon-sik was a mood-maker on the set with his extraordinary sense of humor.
Point 3. A full blown attack against trendy comedies!
You'll double over with laughter!
Recently, quite a few trendy comedies were made, but soon forgotten. This is because the laughter in those films was superficial. The director with a second-to-none sense of humor and the writer who knows how to touch the hearts of the audience worked together on "Who's Got the Tape?". Beneath the laughter of the film bears the understanding and essence of human feelings. Armed with realistic characters and a novel story, this film will mark a turning point for Korean comedies that have fallen into the mannerism of meaningless slapsticks. "Who's Got the Tape?" is truly a humane comedy that is in tune with the audience. |
